Answering Commonly Asked Questions
How Do I Join?
Click here to become a member of the AMWA Pre-Medical Chapter with the University of Utah. To Join, you will need to register with the National AMWA Organization. There is a one time fee of $65 upon joining. This fee covers all of your Pre-Med years. We require a re-registration form with our Chapter at the beginning of each school year, which can be filled out here for 2022-2023.
How Often Are There Events?
We typically host 1-2 events a month coupled with volunteering opportunities occurring weekly or bi-monthly. AMWA members are required to attend 50% of events.
How Do I Count AMWA For Medical School?
AMWA is an organization based on engagement with our members and takes time, effort, and concentration on all of our members behalf. Thus, AMWA Pre-Med membership at the University of Utah can be counted toward your extracurricular activities in the AMCAS application. Additionally, we provide several opportunities for other areas of your application such as volunteering, shadowing, MCAT Prep, and much more.
How Do I Become a Leader?
We hold interviews for prospective leaders at the end of the spring semester and will send out an application form in our Group Me for any interested members to apply to. Our Leadership positions include President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian, Social Media Director, Volunteer Coordinator, and Campus Outreach Director. Leaders can hold their positions for two years, or choose to apply for a new positon in the upcoming cycle.
