How Do I Join?
Click here to become a member of the AMWA Pre-Medical Chapter with the University of Utah. To Join the national chapter, you will need to register with the National AMWA Organization. There is a fee of $75 upon joining. This fee covers all of your Pre-Med years.
How Often Are There Events?
We host 1 event a month coupled with volunteering opportunities occurring bi-monthly. AMWA members are required to attend 50% of events to be qualified as active members.
How Do I Count AMWA For Medical School?
AMWA is an organization based on engagement with our members which takes time, effort, and concentration on all of our members' behalf. Thus, AMWA Pre-Med membership at the University of Utah can be counted toward your extracurricular activities in the AMCAS application. Additionally, we provide several opportunities for other areas of your application such as volunteering, research opportunities, shadowing, MCAT Prep, and much more.
How Do I Become a Leader?
We hold interviews for prospective leaders at the end of the spring semester and will send out an application form. Our Leadership positions include President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Volunteer Coordinator. Leaders only hold their positions for one academic year. To be eligible for President, you must be on the leadership board for a full year prior. To be eligible for any position, you must attend 50% of events.
